To ensure that we can submit your application promptly (often it takes between one to two weeks), please ensure that you provide us with all the information and documents required for your application.

Overview of the process:

Once you make an appointment with us for your matter, we will have a meeting to discuss your personal circumstances and decide what options you have available to you. We will also advise you as to your position under the Immigration Rules, and the likely outcome of your case based on the information and evidence that you provide to us. We will then prepare your application and submit it on your behalf, keeping you updated on the Home Office response and any further requirements. We will always be at hand to provide you with sound legal advice, and further representation should you need it.

Legal Fees and Costs:

The overall cost of your matter will involve disbursement costs and legal fees.

Disbursement costs are official fees that you are required to pay as part of your application and are separate from our legal fees. These fees are often paid directly to third parties involved in your matter, such as:

Home Office fees
NHS Surcharges
Appeals / Administrative Review application fees
Counsel / Barrister fees
Interpreter fees
Independent expert / medical expert fees
Mileage and travel expenses for additional representation

Please note that any Home Office fees related to your application are separate from our legal fees and are paid directly to the Home Office.

If your matter involves more than one of the above services or is of a more complex nature, our fees may vary from the ones quoted above. If you require a tailored quote for your matter, then please contact us and we will be able to provide this for you. A quote would be calculated according to the hourly rate of the solicitor dealing with your matter. The hourly rates start from £185.00 +VAT and go up to £242.00 plus VAT depending on the level of qualification and experience of the fee earner.

The amount of VAT that you will be charged depends on whether you are making your application from outside the UK and what immigration permission you have.

Before taking you on as a client, we will let you know whether you need to pay VAT and the rate that you may need to pay. Normal VAT is charged at a rate of 20% of the fees.

Timescales:

As mentioned, at Ivy Solicitors, we aim to deal with your matter as swiftly and efficiently as possible, whilst paying attention to the details of your case. It is normal for us to take anywhere between one week to one month to prepare your matter for application. This estimate may change if your case is complex or needs additional preparation.

Once we send your application to the relevant body, for example, the Home Office or the UK Border Agency (UKBA), the length of time to make a decision can vary according to their processing times. Information about processing times can be found on both the UKBA and Home Office websites.

Please note that applications made outside the UK may take longer. For certain applications, we may be able to provide expedited service at an additional cost. Please let us know if this is something that you require.
